João e Joana iniciaram o seu primeiro projecto em Junho de 2013. Desde então têm vindo a desenvolver diversos programas, do período clássico aos dias de hoje, apresentando-se em diversos pontos do país, assim como no Oxford Lied Festival, em Paris e Bruxelas.

João nasceu em Portugal e estudou na Academia de Música de Viana do Castelo. Em 2012 concluiu o curso de Performance Vocal e obteve o seu Mestrado em Interpretação Artística na Academia de Música e Artes de Teatro do Porto (ESMAE) com Rui Taveira. Prosseguiu os seus estudos na Academia Internacional de Ópera (ex-Flanders Operastudio) em Gent (Bélgica) com o director artístico Guy Joosten, onde trabalhou em masterclasses com Renée Jacobs, Natalie Dessay, Dietrich Henschell, Wim Hendrickx, Alberto Zedda, Pietro Rizzo, Charlotte Margiono, Jef Smits, bem como com David Gowland, Klaus Sallmann, David Gowland e Peter Lockwood. Apresentou-se com os maestros António Saiote, Martin Andre, Juliano Lombana, Jorge Matta, Christoph König, Ernst Schelle, Paul McReesh e Paul Hillier e trabalhou com os encenadores Peter Konwitschny, Guy Joosten, Jan David Schmitz, Sarah Erlingsdotter e Benoit de Leersnyder, Luís Miguel Cintra e António Durães. João gravou para RDP - Antena 2 Rádio Nacional Portuguesa, Festival de música sacra em Notte di Spiritualità (Verona) e para o Euroclassical Online Festival. Foi galardoado com o prémio Fundação Eng. António de Almeida e o 4º lugar no IV Concurso Nacional de Canto Lírico Rotary Club. Apresentou-se em ópera e recital em Portugal, Bélgica, Itália, Holanda, Alemanha e Reino Unido.

João was born in Portugal and studied at the Music Academy of Viana do Castelo. In 2012 he graduated in Vocal Performance and obtained his Masters Degree of Artistic Interpretation at the Porto Academy of Music and Performing Arts (ESMAE) with Rui Taveira. João pursued his studies at the International Opera Academy (former Flanders Operastudio) in Gent (Belgium) with the artistic director Guy Joosten, where he worked in masterclasse with Renée Jacobs, Natalie Dessay, Dietrich Henschell, Wim Hendrickx, Alberto Zedda, Pietro Rizzo, Charlotte Margiono, Jef Smits, as well with David Gowland, Klaus Sallmann, David Gowland and Peter Lockwood. He performed with conductors António Saiote, Martin Andre, Julian Lombana, Jorge Matta, Christoph König, Ernst Schelle, Paul McReesh and Paul Hillier and with the stage directors Peter Konwitschny, Guy Joosten, Jan David Schmitz, Sarah Erlingsdotter, Benoit de Leersnyder, Luís Miguel Cintra and António Durães. He recorded for RDP - Antena 2 National Portuguese Radio, Festival of sacred music in Notte di Spiritualità (Verona) and for the Euroclassical Online Festival. João was awarded with Fundação Eng. António de Almeida Prize and the 4th prize in the IV National Song Lyric Rotary Club. He performed in opera and recital in Portugal, Belgium, Italy, Holland, Deutschland and United Kingdom.

Joana nasceu na cidade do Porto, concluiu a licenciatura na Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espectáculo da mesma cidade na classe do Prof. Jaime Mota, tendo sido galardoada com o prémio Fundação Eng. António de Almeida. Nesse mesmo ano estudou na Hochschule für Musik und Theater Felix Mendelssohn Bartoldy (Leipzig) com os profs. Gerald Fauth (piano), Karl-Peter Kammerlander (acompanhamento de Lied) e Gudrun Franke (música de câmara). Completou o curso geral do Conservatório com o prof. Vitaly Dotsenko, trabalhou com a pianista Helena Sá e Costa e foi bolseira da Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian. Em 2009 completou o Mestrado em Performance na Universidade de Aveiro, tendo trabalhado com o pianista Fausto Neves e apresentado comunicações em Portugal, Reino Unido, França e Brasil. No domínio do Lied integrou masterclasses de Hartmut Höll, Dalton Baldwin, Dietrich Fischer Dieskau, Graham Johnson, Malcolm Martineau, Robin Bowman, Wolfgang Holzmair, Robert Holl, Julius Drake, tendo trabalhado música francesa com o pianista Jeff Cohen. Tem-se apresentado em Portugal, França, Alemanha, Inglaterra, Luxemburgo, Bélgica; Holanda e República Checa em diversas formações. Interessa-se pela divulgação de música portuguesa (obras estreadas de Fernando Corrêa de Oliveira, Sérgio Azevedo, Rui Soares da Costa, Eduardo Patriarca, Francisco Monteiro, Berta Alves de Sousa e Fernando Lopes-Graça). Dedica especial atenção ao acompanhamento de Lied/canção, tendo gravado para a Antena2, com as sopranos Catarina Sereno e Ana Maria Pinto e o tenor João Terleira, ciclos de R. Schumann, L. Freitas Branco, F. Schubert e B. Britten. Para a RTP/Antena2 gravou com Fausto Neves (Fernando Lopes-Graça, estúdios RTP, Abril 2014) e Ana Maria Pinto (Fernando Lopes Graça e Federico Mompou, CCB, Março 2016). Lançou recentemente o CD "Anterianas", com canções de Freitas Branco e Schubert e poesia de Antero de Quental. www.joanaresende.com

During this period she worked with the pianist Helena Sá e Costa and was awarded a scholarship from Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (Lisbon). In 2009 Joana completed a Masters Degree in Performance from the University of Aveiro (Portugal), working with pianist Fausto Neves and presenting scientific papers in Portugal, United Kingdom, France and Brazil. In Lied domain she worked in masterclasse with Hartmut Höll (Karlsruhe), Dietrich Fischer Dieskau (Stuttgart), Graham Johnson (Estoril), Dalton Baldwin (Nice and Vila Real), Malcolm Martineau (Oxenfoord), Jeff Cohen (classes in Lisbon about franch mélodie), Robin Bowman (Oxenfoord), Wolfgang Holzmair, Robert Holl and Julius Drake (Oxford). Joana has performed in Portugal, France, Germany, England, Luxemburg, Belgium; Netherlands and Czech Republic in several formations. She works in duo with the pianist Fausto Neves and nourishes a special interest in the release of Portuguese music (several premieres) and in Lied accompaniment (recording for portuguese radio/Tv RDP/Antena2 cycles of Robert Schumann, Luís de Freitas Branco, Franz Schubert, Federico Mompou and Benjamin Britten with sopranos Catarina Sereno, Ana Maria Pinto and the tenor João Terleira).
